General information

    • Surveillance period: 2002 - 2011
    • Temporal resolution: Annual surveillance
  • Case definition :
    * Before 3 yrs old: sibilant episodes (bronchitis included), only after the 3rd episode.
    * 3 yrs old and older: asthma attack (acute respiratory dyspnea with sibilants and/or coughing), excluding Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease flares and left cardiac failure.
  • Description for each case: age; sex; smoking status; known asthma and if so age at the diagnosis; history of allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, eczema or urticaria; atopy in parents (if patient under 15 years); background therapy with inhaled corticosteroids; another background therapy; hospitalization.
